Plastic Spiral Belts

Plastic spiral belts from Spirofil can be used for dewatering and drying, as well as for transportation in many industries. A plastic (polyester) spiral belt is also known as an endless or seamless spiral mesh belt or belt filter and offers many possibilities in the areas of dewatering, filtration/separation, drying, and transportation. Long experience in industrial fabrics and a constant focus on ecology have resulted in the development of a wide range of spiral belts for mechanical (sludge) dewatering from liquid to solid. Spirofil primarily uses this type of belt in belt presses and dewatering tables or belt thickeners.

Spirofil can supply the right spiral belt for each specific situation. Most applications can be serviced with the standard range. At Spirofil, we supply three different standard types of spiral belts, both with and without filling yarns. In special cases, a spiral belt with unique properties can be developed for optimal performance in that specific situation. Special versions include belts with flat spiral wires or flat filling wires. A spiral belt can also be equipped with cleats.

Spiraalband met / zonder vuldraden (type 15/50)

Spiral belt with / without filler wires (type 15/50)

Applications

Our product range covers all (sludge) dewatering – belt press liquid filtration applications, such as:

  • Dewatering of inert sludge from quarries or mines
  • Dewatering of biological or chemical sludge from municipality sewage plants
  • Pressing of grapes, fruit and others

Spirofil spiral belt with filler wires

Spirofil spiral belts are made from top-quality monofilament yarns of 100% polyester. For high-temperature applications, materials such as PPS or Rayton™ (Polyphenylene sulfide) are used. Each spiral belt is thermally fixed under high tension and temperature, ensuring excellent stability and a long lifespan. Advantages of a spiral belt include:

  • High strength
  • Smooth surface
  • Good air permeability
  • Stable under heat and moisture
  • Minimal stretch
  • Long lifespan

A spiral belt consists of spirals connected by a pin wire. Within the spiral, there are pin wires that determine the open area. The spiral cavity is often filled with a filling wire.

Features

  • High strength
  • Very stable under high tension
  • Endless; the seam has the same strength as the belt and is not visible
  • Can be easily repaired on-site
  • Does not need to be precisely dimensioned; it can be adjusted on-site
  • Durable, smooth surface, and dirt-repellent
  • Available with or without filling, allowing for different filtration characteristics (air permeability 250 to over 1000 CFM*)
  • Edges coated with adhesive for durable, economical solutions
  • Widths up to 6 meters, standard lengths up to 60-80 meters
  • pH range of 2 to 8

In special cases, a belt with unique properties can be developed for optimal performance in that specific situation. Examples of special versions are belts with flat spiral wires or flat filling wires. Below is an image of a spiral belt with flat spiral wires.
