Renovation and Optimization

Spirofil renovates dewatering installations, with the focus on filter belt presses, dewatering tables or belt thickeners and chamber filter presses. During a retrofit a machine is brought to new condition and possibly upgrades and optimisations can be implemented. This requires careful preparation and planning in which we look together with you for a solution-oriented working method that leads to the shortest possible disruption of your (continuous) dewatering process.

During a renovation, for example, a mobile dewatering installation can be deployed that takes over the work temporarily.

The implementation phase is from a few days to a few weeks. Renovation can be carried out on-site, but this can also be done in our own workshop, depending on your situation. Our own expertise is supplemented with support from reliable partners with whom we have been working together for years.

Optimization of your installation can possibly be combined with a renovation, but can also be carried out separately.

What is important during renovation?

A number of typical components can play a major role in renovations. These are parts that have been subject to wear and tear through years of intensive use that replacement or overhaul is necessary. You can think of rollers, the frame construction of an installation or the bearing housings, the tensioning and steering device (used to tension and align the filter cloth or filter belt), the pumps and gearboxes and of course the hydraulics / pneumatics and controls of an installation. Below you can read more about all these parts. Contact us for suitable advice! More information about (sludge) dewatering and with which (mechanical) separation processes that is possible can be found here.

Rollers

The roll-in of rollers at your filter belt press or sieve belt press often has major consequences for the control and service life of a spiral belt or woven belt. Spirofil renovates rolers so that they can be used again for years. In addition, Shaft journal repairs are also possible.

Frame & Bearing houses

Both the structural construction parts (the frame) and, for example, bearing housings are loaded relatively heavily during the dewatering process. Spirofil repairs these parts and provides them with new coatings (whereby the part is blasted and then galvanised and / or coated).

Tension Device & Control Device

Both de tensioning and the control device of the belt are subject to wear and tear. These devices are often pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical in nature. Spirofil will again adjust these systems and, if required, will add new components.

Pumps & Gear Boxes

During a renovation, gearboxes, pumps and associated electric motors are also checked and, where necessary, renewed or overhauled. If necessary, the axes can also be aligned using laser equipment.

PLC Technology

During a renovation, the pneumatics & hydraulics and PLC technology of an installation are checked and, where necessary, renewed. This technique is used for the drive of mechanical parts or the control of installations.

Optimalization of your installation

If your dewatering installation does not function optimally, this may result in non-optimal / excessive sludge production. We analyze your waste water treatment process and find out where improvements are possible. Optimization leads to better control of costs for sludge dewatering and sludge processing. Below you will find some concrete examples of adjustments to your installation that can directly result in improved efficiency.

Spirospuit®

Cleaning of the filter belt is essential with a belt filter press or dewatering table. If a spiral belt or woven belt is used normally, the contamination is minimal and is kept clean by means of the system present on an installation. If a change in the sludge composition occurs and the dirt accumulates in the pores of the belt, this is no longer cleaned by this conventional system (this can also occur under the influence of flocculants such as aluminum / iron chloride). A belt is often changed because it is too dirty and can no longer be cleaned. Spirofil has developed an innovative solution that does not require modifications to the existing machine: the Spirospuit®. The Spirospuit® is custom engineered, assembled & installed for the customer.

This system increases the efficiency of the installation, the service life of the filter belt. It is an addition to the conventional system.

Automatic brush cleaning spray tube

For the cleaning of the filter belt in a dewatering table or belt filter press, a spray tube is used which is provided with spray plates or nozzles. Conventional cleaning of the spray pipe or spray lance, almost always with brushes, takes place manually in most cases (dictated by the degree of pollution of the process water). Spirofil has developed an additional device that automatically cleans the spray pipe in radial and axial directions. The system can be controlled by the PLC, making both the cleaning frequency and the cleaning time freely adjustable. This full-continuous provision guarantees optimum operation of the installation. Also, no operator is required who manually cleans the spray pipe on the basis of process parameters.

This facility is available in a number of standard variants and is assembled & installed for the customer. It is a supplement to conventional cleaning and saves manpower at the installation site.

High pressure cleaning filter belt

Built-in cleaning systems (belt rinsing) of belt filter presses or dewatering tables can usually be improved, whereby the cleaning of the filter belt (spiral belt or woven belt) takes place more thoroughly and the efficiency of the dewatering installation is thereby substantially increased. The application of our unique belt rinsing system combines a higher rinsing water pressure with special rinsing heads (swivels). This results in better and more thorough cleaning with a much lower consumption of flushing water and energy. The reduction of rinsing water is a very big advantage for example for the agricultural sector,  since every m³ of polluted water produced on a farmyard is considered as manure and must be specially processed with associated costs.

This cleaning system is custom engineered, assembled & installed for the customer. It reduces the amount of flushing water and can replace the conventional spray pipe or spray lance.

Dynamic mixer

The dynamic mixer (type DPM) has been specially developed for the optimum mixing between polymer and sludge. This mixer combines excellent performance with a relatively low investment. The mixer gives a reduction of dilution water consumption that can be as high as 90%. The saving on the polyelectrolyte dosage can be up to 25%! The mixer is equipped with triangularly shaped mixing elements on the mixer shaft. This optimum geometry ensures perfect mixing and prevents blockages. By using an injection ring where the polymer is injected onto the 4 tangents, the polymer is introduced into the sludge stream very evenly distributed. The frequency-controlled mixer then mixes the polymer in the sludge stream (also manure!).

This system results in a lower polymer consumption and can be used universally for thickening sludge flows with the aid of filter belt presses, chamber filter presses but also other machines such as centrifuges.
